Women's Basketball Win Streak Reaches Six with Win Over Manchester

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Rose-Hulman rolled to its sixth straight win, a 73-42 victory over HCAC-foe Manchester on Saturday afternoon.  The win was the 18th straight victory over a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent for RHIT and the 29th straight win at home in Hulbert Arena.

Rose-Hulman got off to a hot start, shooting 61.1% (11-18) in the first quarter in route a 22-8 lead.  Junior Ally Bromenschenkel scored six of her 12 points in the first 10 minutes of action.  She also grabbed five of her six rebounds in the opening quarter.  Rose-Hulman's offense was just as efficient in the second quarter as it was in the first.  The Fightin' Engineers made 63.6% (7-11) of their field goal attempts in the second frame.  At the intermission the Fightin' Engineers led Manchester 41-14.  

Rose-Hulman increased their lead in the third quarter on the strength of 70% (7-10) shooting.  Senior Alyzia Dilworth spearheaded the offense in the third period with 10 points on 4-4 shooting.  She was also 2-2 from downtown in the third period.  RHIT continued to shoot the ball well in the final 10 minutes of play.  The Fightin' Engineers made 6 of 12 field goal attempts. 

For the game the Fightin' Engineers shot 60.8% (31-51).  RHIT knocked down 4 of 7 three-point attempts and went a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line.  Manchester was held to 30.6% (15-49) shooting for the game including being held to just 30% (3-10) shooting from beyond the three-point arc.  

Sophomore Sophie Brooks had a career day for Rose-Hulman.  Brooks notched career-highs in minutes played (31), points (12), rebounds (8) assists (5), and steals (3).  The Chicago, Ill. native went 5-8 from the floor.  Ally Bromenschenkel finished with 12 points and six rebounds.  Alyzia Dilworth scored a game-high 14 points and contributed five assists in the win.  12 different Engineers scored a basket in the game.

The win improved Rose-Hulman to 8-3, 4-0 HCAC.  Manchester fell to 2-6, 1-3 HCAC.  Rose will have a couple of weeks off for the Holidays.  The Fightin' Engineers will hit the hardwood again on January 3 against Hanover College.  Tipoff against the Panthers is set for 7 pm in Hulbert Arena.
