AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored four runs in the third inning to take an early lead, before Neumann rallied to capture an 8-6 victory in the baseball season opener for both teams on Sunday.
Sophomore David Burnside led the Fightin' Engineer offense with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Burnside also scored one run and had his RBI double in the four-run third inning.
Other key offensive contributors for Rose-Hulman included Koby Close with a double and one run scored; Marcus Wechselberger with a single and one run scored; Davis Robeson with a single, RBI and run scored; and Logan Schiessle with a single and one run scored.
On the mound, junior Chuck Alexa led the effort with seven strikeouts in three innings of work out of the Rose-Hulman bullpen.
Rose-Hulman stands 0-1 on the season and returns to action against Concordia-Moorhead on Monday at 11 a.m. in Auburndale, Florida.
