Men 2nd, Women 6th Behind Three Event Wins at IWU

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology set one school record and recorded three event victories to highlight a strong performance at the Illinois Wesleyan University Keck Select Meet on Saturday.

Despite bringing a limited roster to the meet, the Fightin' Engineer men placed second in the team scoring and the women placed six among nine teams.

Junior Gabi Razma paced the event winners with a school record in the triple jump.  Razma recorded a winning mark of 36' 9 3/4" with the performance.  Junior Jaclyn Setina added a second women's victory by winning the high jump, clearing a mark of 5' 4 1/2".

On the men's side, junior Josh Himes led 10 top-five finishes with a win in the shot put after an effort of 50' 7 1/4".

The day included two men's and two women's runner-up finishes.  On the men's side, Adam Wilson was the 60-meter second-place finisher in 7.15 seconds, while Isaiah Smith ran a 200-meter time of 22.90 seconds to come home as runner-up.

On the women's side, Debie Gedeon recorded a 60-meter hurdle time of 9.31 seconds and Lauren London tallied the second-best long jump in school history at 17' 6 1/4" to record runner-up finishes.

The men had seven more top-five finishes.  Third-place finishers included Himes in the weight throw (52' 4"); Brendon Mattiuz in the 800 meters (1:58.64) and Nick Palmer with a season-best tying pole vault mark (15' 5").

Fourth-place men's finishers included Josh Hennig in the 400 meters (50.90) and Eric Fiacable in the weight throw (50' 6 1/4").  Smith added a fifth in the long jump (20' 7 3/4"), and Nic Keller came home fifth in the weight throw (48' 10").

Rose-Hulman will travel to the DePauw University Invitational next weekend.
