Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Manchester University secured a pair of wins to complete a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball series against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester held on to win a 9-8 decision in a game that carried over the final inning from Saturday due to darkness.  The Spartans then won the regular scheduled game 7-5 in a contest that was shortened to six innings due to rain.

Joe Gallatin led the Manchester seven-hit attack with a two-run home run.  John Magers came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings and pick up the victory for the Spartans.

David Burnside paced the Rose-Hulman offense with a two-run home run in game two. Ryan Stachowski added a single with one run scored.  Davis Robeson also scored a pair of runs and had a single in the contest.

Manchester improved to 18-18 overall and 15-8 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 17-19 and 15-8 in league games.  The Fightin' Engineers return to action at home on Tuesday, facing Franklin College at 6 p.m.
