TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon against the Carroll University Pioneers at Intramural Field.
The Fightin' Engineers struck first in the contest. A foul just outside and to the left of the box set up an Austin Webb free-kick that was headed into the back of the net by freshman Ethan Butler.
With the Engineers up 1-0 and time winding down in the first period of play, the Pioneers managed to slip a ball passt the Rose-Hulman defensive line and Tate Resch-Gauger scored with just eight seconds left to play to tie the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Carroll went on the offensive and took a 2-1 lead after Tlaloc Huerta's header bounced off the hands goalie Carter Wright.
Rose-Hulman wasn't done as late substitution Lucas Kesterson fired a rocket from from 30 yards out that found the back of the net with just 64 ticks left on the clock. Kesterson's equalizer forced overtime.
Neither team managed to score in either overtime.
With the draw, Rose-Hulman's record moved to 2-1-1. Carroll (Wis.) moved to 0-3-1 on the season. The Fightin' Engineers will be back in action on Wednesday September 15 at Wabash. Kickoff is set for 5 PM.
