TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Boasting the No. 9 scoring defense in Division III women's basketball, the Rose-Hulman women's basketball team rolled to a 84-31 win over Anderson University for the teams' 11th straight win on Wednesday night. The victory over Anderson kept RHIT undefeated in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play pushing the Fightin' Engineers to 9-0 against league opponents this season. RHIT also extended its home winning streak to 32 games, the nation's longest active home winning streak in NCAA Division III women's basketball.
Rose-Hulman's stingy defense pressured Anderson into 38 turnovers, including 22 turnovers in the first half. Anderson was limited to 25.6% shooting from the game and the Ravens did not make a three-point field goal. Rose-Hulman also outrebounded the Ravens 36-27
The Fightin' Engineer offense was efficient as Rose-Hulman shot 54% (34-63) for the game. Abby Bromenschenkel led all RHIT scorers with 12 points and seven assists. Ally Bromenschenkel added nine points. Six different Engineers finished with eight points. Abby Holloway scored a career-high eight points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench. 13 different Engineers scored in the game. RHIT assisted on 26 of its 34 made field goals.
Rose-Hulman moved to 13-3, 9-0 HCAC while Anderson fell to 0-16, 0-9 HCAC. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will hit the road this weekend and travel to Defiance, Ohio to take on the Defiance College Yellow Jackets on Saturday January 20. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
