Women's Soccer Picks Up Key HCAC Win on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology tied a season high in goals scored to pick up a key 6-0 women's soccer Senior Day victory over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon at the Engineer Intramural Field.

Rose-Hulman honored seniors Samantha Jacobs and Lauren London prior to the game, then had a balanced team performance to pick up the victory.  Jacobs made her 66th career appearance on Saturday and has career totals of 3 goals, 7 assists and 13 points as a defender.  London has played multiple positions in 64 career contests and scored her 9th career goal to go along with 9 career assists.

Jessica Wells scored two goals in a four-minute span of the first half to give Rose-Hulman a 2-0 lead at the half.  Wells scored on a pass from Maggie Sheerin in the 16th minute, then found the back of the net unassisted in the 20th minute.

London made the score 3-0 just over two minutes into the second half after a pass from Maddie Sorensen.  The lead reached 5-0 when Elle Vuotto sxcored in the 54th and 59th minutes, with the first goal assisted by Elle Ogden.  Christina Rogers capped the scoring with a goal in the 81st minute.

Rose-Hulman enjoyed success both offensively and defensively in the matchup, outshooting the visiting Quakers 25-3.  Raven McGree made 12 saves for Earlham, which was held without a shot on goal by a strong Rose-Hulman defensive effort.  Katie Demert and Maria Wohlsdorf combined for the shutout in goal.

Rose-Hulman improved to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in HCAC play with the win, while Earlham dropped to 7-7 and 1-4 in conference games.  The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Wednesday with a road matchup at Franklin.
