Balanced Attack Falls Just Short in Men's Basketball Home Opener

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- DePauw University closed a tight matchup on a 6-2 run to capture a narrow 71-67 men's basketball victory in the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball home opener on Wednesday night.

With the score tied 65-65, Cole Jenkins buried a three-pointer to give DePauw a 68-65 lead with 1:54 remaining.  Luke Callahan answered with an 8-foot jumper to close Rose-Hulman within 68-67 with 29 seconds left.

The DePauw lead reached 70-67 on two free throws by Josh Hall with 12 seconds remaining.  The Tigers forced a Rose-Hulman turnover on the next possession, and Nick Felke hit one of two free throws to secure the win for the visitors.

Hall led DePauw with 19 points and was joined in double figures by Jenkins with 14 points and Nolan Ginther with 13.

Rose-Hulman placed five players in double figures with a balanced effort.  John Czarnecki led the Engineers with 14 points on 6-7 from the field with six reboounds.  Craig McGee added 13 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Charlie Aimone added 12 points on an evening that opened with him being presented a game ball from his 1,000th-point game from last week's victory at Fontbonne.
