Game Recap: Men's Swimming and Diving |

Swimming & Diving Teams Sweep Anderson in Home Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for 21 event victories to earn team wins over Anderson University on Friday night at the Sports & Recreation Center Natatorium.

The women's squad won eight events to pick up a narrow 116-110 victory over the Ravens.  On the men's side, Rose-Hulman captured victories in all 13 events to win 128-57.

On the women's side, Lauren Blake led the Fightin' Engineers with three individual event wins.  Blake swept the 100-freestyle (56.41), 200-freestyle (2:04.21) and 500-freestyle (5:37.75).

Michaela Kivett and Elisa Weber added two individual wins each.  Kivett provided Rose-Hulman maximum points by winning one-meter (208.35) and three-meter (197.85) diving, while Weber won the 100-butterfly (1:05.45) and the 400-individual medley (5:08.54).

The night's opening event, the 200-medley relay, proved to be a key in the six-point victory.  The team of Parker Brady, Blake, Weber and Tana Hendrickson came home first in a time of 1:58.42.

The men's team swept all 13 events in a strong and balanced team performance.  Sean Gish had multiple wins by sweeping the 50-freestyle (22.22) and 100-freestyle (48.46) events, and Brendan King also won two freestyle events by capturing the 200 (1:48.72) and 500 (4:53.04).

Other individual swimming winners included William Jordan in the 100-backstroke (58.51); Dutch Kipp in the 100-butterfly (54.37); Ethan Park in the 400-individual medley (4:19.51); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:01.90) and Shamus Sparling in the 1,000-freestyle (10:36.09).

Rose-Hulman also swept the two diving event wins, with Ben Strate claiming the one-meter victory (214.00) and Peter Venema winning in three-meter (224.90).

The two relay teams also earned top honors.  The 200-medley team of Isaac Harper, Park, Bryce Snaguski and Gish won in 1:40.85.  The 200-freestyle relay team of Zach TateGreg Wenning, Jared Brown and Kipp capped the night with a victory in 1:29.77.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Transylvania University Invitational on Dec. 1-2.
