TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a 9-0 shutout victory over Defiance College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's tennis opener on Saturday at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
Singles winners included Ian Landwehr at No. 1; Cam Metzger at No. 2; Andre Adam at No. 3; Andrew Schiffman at No. 4; Austin Perry at No. 5; and Jacob Pluta at No. 6. The six singles players lost just three games combined in the match.
In doubles play, Rose-Hulman picked up 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0 wins. The teams included Metzger and Adam at No. 1; Landwehr and Perry at No. 2; and Schiffman with Brendan Goldacker at No. 3.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-6 overall and 5-1 against NCAA Division III opponents. The Fightin' Engineers face Franklin in another league matchup on Sunday at noon at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
