ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology track and field teams combined for five first-place performances to finish second on the men's side and third in the women's competition at Washington University on Saturday.
The effort included 1-2-3 sweeps in a pair of events, the men's discus and the men's shot put. Josh Himes won a pair of events with first-place finishes in the discus (150' 6") and the shot put (51' 4 1/4"). Eric Fiacable added a victory in the hammer throw with the second-best mark in program history (173' 10").
The discus featured a 1-2-3 sweep by Himes, Fiacable (137' 10") and Jacob Sparks (136' 8"). The same trio combined for the shot put sweep, with Himes first, Sparks second (45' 0 1/2") and Fiacable in third (45' 0 1/2").
Josh Hennig added a men's running event victory by capturing first place in the 400-meter dash (49.43). Cameron Prisby contributed an individual second-place finish in the men's pole vault (13' 7 1/4").
Jaclyn Setina paced the women's performance with a victory in the high jump, clearing 5' 1". Gabi Razma added finishes of second in the triple jump (35' 3 3/4") and third in the 400-meter dash (1:00.60).
Other top-three finishers for the women's squad included Camille Blaisdell with a second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:10.04); Debie Gedeon with a third in the 100-hurdles (15.74); and Kally Morozin with a third in the 1,500-meter run (5:00.83).
Men's third-place finishers also included David Goncharov in the long jump (20' 2 1/4"); Nick Palmer in the pole vault (13' 7 1/4"); and Aaron Lannoy in the 800-meter run (1:58.82).
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Wittenberg Invitational on Friday.
