TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman softball team fell to Hanover College in a HCAC doubleheader on Wednesday at the Rose-Hulman Softball Field. Rose dropped game one of the day by a final score of 9-3. The Engineers were topped in the second game 3-1.
Game 1 - Hanover 9, Rose-Hulman 3
Rose-Hulman and Hanover were neck and neck for most of game one on Wednesday. The Panthers broke things open late with a 7-run top of the 6th.
Jenny Miller and Maddie Struble led the Rose offense in game one. Miller went 2-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Struble went 2-4 with a RBI.
Game 2 - Hanover 3, Rose-Hulman 1
The Fightin' Engineers ran into a tough pitcher in Syndey Griffin in the second game of the evening. Griffin held Rose to one run on three hits.
Jenny Miller provided a highlight for the Fightin' Engineers in the bottom of the sixth inning. Miller blasted a solo home run to left center. Her solo home run set a new school record for home runs in a career with 19.
Rose-Hulman fell to 7-13, 0-6 HCAC in 2018. Hanover improved to 12-12, 2-4 HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers will play at Mount St, Joseph on Friday April 13 as HCAC play continues for both teams.
