DAYTON, Ohio - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology traveled to Ohio for a pair of non-conference tennis matches on Sunday. The Fightin' Engineers rolled past the College of Wooster 8-1 before falling to NCAA Division I Wright State 5-2.
In the Wooster match, Ian Landwehr and Austin Perry combined for an 8-2 win an no. 2 doubles. Brendan Goldacker and Andrew Schiffman picked up an 8-0 win at no. 3 doubles.
On the singles side, Ian Landwehr continued his impressive play this season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the no.1 flight. Cam Metzger picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at no. 2 singles. Andre Adam added a win at the no. 3 singles position, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-0. Andrew Schiffman, Austin Perry, and Ben Strate all won 6-0, 6-0 at no. 4-6 singles.
In the evening, the Fightin' Engineer took on NCAA Division I Wright State. The Raiders defeated Rose 5-2. Ian Landwehr notched a 7-5, 6-3 win at no. 1 singles against his Division I opponent. Austin Perry also got earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory at no. 5 singles.
Rose-Hulman stands 14-10 on the season and will head to Richmond on Saturday April 28 to take on Earlham College. Match time against the Quakers is set for Noon.
