TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team will begin their 2018 season with two road contest over the weekend. They will face Principia on Friday, August 31. That game will be followed by the match against North Central (Ill.) on Saturday, September 1.

Rose-Hulman News & Notes
* Rose-Hulman finished second in the conference last year during the regular season with an overall record of 12-5-3, and a HCAC record of 7-1-1.
* The team has advanced to the conference tournament championship game in the past five seasons.
* The Fightin' Engineers have been picked to finish third in the conference this year in the HCAC polls.
* Head Coach Sean Helliwell enters his 11th season with the men's soccer program; during his tenure he has guided RHIT to a 127-52-29 overall record (.680 winning percentage).
* Rose-Hulman is 72-6-10 (.875 winning percentage) against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents under Coach Helliwell.
* The leading returning scorer for Rose-Hulman is senior Michael Simmons. He scored four goals with a total of points.
The Opposition: Principia Panthers
* The Panthers finished last season with an overall record of 6-9-3, and finished 5-2-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
* They will return last years leading scorer Kaleb Keller, who finished the season with 18 goals and 38 points.
* Principia is coming off a SLIAC championship appearance from last year where they were defeated 2-1 by Westminster.
The Opposition: North Central (Ill.) Cardinals
* North Central posted an overall record of 8-9-1 last fall, including a 5-3-0 record against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) competition.
* The Cardinals were picked fifth in the CCIW preseason coaches poll.
* They will return leading scorer Gavin Sanchez from last seasons campaign where he finished with 5 goals and 12 points.
