Men's Soccer Defeats Bluffton in HCAC Matchup

TERRE HAUTE Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer was able to come away with a win over HCAC competitor Bluffton University on Saturday, September 29.  This improves the Engineers to 4-4-1 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC.  

PJ Renz was able to get to the net in the fifth minute to give the Engineers the early lead.  Charles Lynch was able to increase the Rose-Hulman lead with a goal of his own in the 11th minute.  Sam Alvares was able to score after an assist from Will McGowen in the 18th minute to put the Engineers up 3-0.  This would be the score as the match went into halftime.

In the second half, the Engineers continued to control the match.  Travis Bednarek was able to score after an assist from George Bulger in the 58th minute to increase the lead to 4-0.  Ryan Tarr was able to get to the net after an assist from Ross Klauer in the 59th minute to extend the lead for the Engineers.  Freshman Anesu Chinoda was able to get his first career goal in the 80th minute.  The Beavers were able to prevent the shutout with a goal in the final minutes of play.

Rose-Hulman was able to outshoot the Beavers 18-5.  The Engineers were able to defeat the Beavers 6-1 to give them their first conference win of the season.   

Goalie Pascal Schlee ended the night with 2 saves after 2 shots on goal.  Freshman goalie Alec Polster was able to help on the defensive end with 2 saves after 3 shots on goal.  This puts the Engineers at 4-4-1 and 1-0 in the HCAC as they continue conference competition next Wednesday, 10/3 traveling to face Mount St. Joseph University at 7:00 PM.
