Game Recap: Men's Track and Field |

Men's and Women's Track & Field Come Away With 1st Place Finishes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won 11 events as both the men's and women's teams finished first in the Friday Night Invitational on Friday, 1/18.

The event featured 10 different schools including the Engineers.  Other teams competing at the meet included Brescia, Campbellsville, DePauw, Franklin, Hanover, Kentucky Wesleyan, Millikin, St. Norbert, and Wabash.

Rose-Hulman men's field event winners included Eric Fiacable in the shot put (48' 1.75") and Cameron Prisby in the pole vault (14' 6").

The Fightin' Engineers running event winners included Matthew Stevenot in the 3000-meter run (8:54.37), Noah Thomas in the 60-meter dash (7.04) and the 200-meter dash (22.83), and the 4x200-meter relay team of Dawson Allen, Noah Thomas, Kristian Zadlo, and Stephen Payne (1:33.36). 

Winners on the women's side included Dara Smith in the high jump (5' 1.25"), Lauren London in the 60-meter hurdles (9.47), Kally Morozin in the 800-meter run (2:24.67), Jessica Wells in the 3000-meter run (11:16.67), and the women's 4-x-200 meter relay team composed of Lauren LondonMary-Helen ShombaTina Rogers, and Adekite Oladipupo (1:48.15). 

Rose-Hulman combined for eight runner-up finishes on the evening.  Men's field event runner up finishers included Eric Fiacable in the weight throw (57' 3.5"), Nick Palmer in the pole vault (14' 6"), and Nathan Schrader in the shot put (47' 10").

Women runner ups for the Engineers included Claire Perkins in the pole vault (9' 3"), Mary-Helen Shomba in the 60-meter hurdles (9.52), Tina Rogers in the 400-meter run (1:01.47), Lauren London in the 60-meter dash (8.12), and the women's 4-x-400 meter relay team (4:17.15).

Two Rose-Hulman athletes were able to set new school records in their events tonight.  Lauren London tied the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.10 seconds and Eric Fiacable was able to break his former record in the weight throw with a mark of 57' 3.5".

Rose-Hulman will compete next in their Engineer Invitational on Friday, 1/25.  Events will begin at approximately 6:00 PM.
