GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swimming and diving teams combined for six victories in a matchup with nationally ranked men's and women's teams from Calvin College on Saturday in Michigan.
Calvin won the team scoring 177-110 on the men's side and 243-41 on the women's side.
Individually, the Fightin' Engineer men's squad won six events on the day. Winners included Nicholas Jeronis in the 400-individual medley (4:23.82); Brendan King in the 500-freestyle (4:53.64); Bryce Snaguski in the 200-butterfly (1:57.77); Ethan Park in the 200-breaststroke (2:11.13); Joshua Schnipke in three-meter diving (197.00 points) and Peter Venema in one-meter diving (238.40 points).
The women's squad relied on its diving team for two runner-up finishes. Michelle Reese was second in one-meter diving with 256.60 points, while Michaela Kivett scored 223.20 points in three-meter diving.
Schnipke added a runner-up finish in one-meter diving with 197.40 points. Other second-place finishers included Michael Nixon in the 1,000-freestyle (10:30.84) and Nick Samra in the 200-breaststroke (2:15.10). The 200-freestyle relay also came home second in 1:24.82.
Rose-Hulman returns to action with a trip to Franklin College on Friday and Illinois Wesleyan next Saturday in a pair of road meets.
