FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's swimming and diving team picked up a narrow victory, and the Fightin' Engineers won 10 events in Friday night's dual meet at Franklin.
Rose-Hulman won the men's team scoring by a 155.5-138.5 margin, while the women dropped the team competition to the No. 22 ranked Grizzlies.
The Fightin' Engineers won 10 events on the evening, led by two individuals with two victories each. Brendan King swept the 500-freestyle (4:53.91) and 1000-freestyle (10:08.35), and Ethan Park won both the 200-individual medley (2:01.64) and the 200-breaststroke (2:12.44).
Other swimming individual winners included Jared Brown in the 50-freestyle (22.33); Sean Gish in the 100-freestyle (48.80); Nick Samra in the 100-breaststroke (1:00.72); and Bryce Snaguski in the 200-butterfly (1:59.23).
Peter Venema picked up a 1-meter 5-dive victory with 192.15 points, and the 400-freestyle relay team of Dutch Kipp, Brown, King and Gish won in 3:13.67.
Runner-up finishers included women's divers Michelle Reese (182.10 points for 5 dives) and Samantha Stevens (220.70 points for 6 dives). Lauren Blake added a 100-freestyle runner-up finish in 57.08 seconds.
On the men's side, Brown came home second in the 100-freestyle (49.23), Kipp was runner-up in the 200-backstroke (2:00.38), and Venema was second with 202.30 points in 1-meter diving. The 200-medley relay team also came home second in 1:38.77.
Rose-Hulman returns to action with a rescheduled meet at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
