LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team was defeated on the road against #25 Transylvania University with a final score of 61-47. This drops the Engineers to 13-6 overall and 10-2 in the HCAC.
Ally Bromenschenkel was the team's leading scorer recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. Debie Gedeon was the Engineers second leading scorer with 8 points on the day. Taylor Graham was also able to contribute with 5 points coming off the bench.
Transylvania was able to get off to a hot start. The Pioneers relied on their three point shooting to jump ahead of the Engineers. Rose-Hulman would stand behind 22-16 at the end of the first quarter.
The Pioneers continued to thrive offensively. At halftime the Engineers trailed Transylvania 43-23. Ally Bromenschenkel was the team's leading scorer in the first half with 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Rose-Hulman played tough to get back into the contest. They were able to cut the lead to 11 points at the end of the third quarter as they trailed 50-39. Despite their efforts, the Engineers were not able to complete the comeback and were defeated by the Pioneers with a final score of 61-47.
The Engineers stand at 13-6 overall and 10-2 in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman will return to action on Wednesday, 1/30 as they host Hanover College at 7:30 PM on Milwaukee Tool Night.
