Volleyball Sweeps Franklin, Moves to 2-0 in HCAC Play

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology closed out two tight sets before picking up a 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 victory over Franklin College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.

Katie Orbeta led the offense with 13 kills, 20 assists and nine digs.  Erin Castaneda added a team-high 22 assists to the effort.  Elizabeth Canon contributed nine kills, Riley Woodruff had eight kills, and Kayla Harding added seven kills in a balanced offensive performance.

Woodruff and Emma Royer had a pair of service aces each for Rose-Hulman.  Katryna Dahlberg had a team-high 20 digs, and the duo of Maria Bruner and Woodruff had two solo blocks each.  Bruner added one block assist.

Kyndall Boyll led Franklin with 10 kills and Billie Jarrett had a team-high 23 assist.

Rose-Hulman improved to 10-12 with its fifth straight win on the season.  The Fightin' Engineers are also 2-0 in HCAC play.  Franklin is 14-8 and 2-1 in league play.  The Fightin' Engineers host Defiance College in another HCAC match on Saturday at 2 p.m.
