Volleyball Caps Regular Season with Senior Day Win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers volleyball team capped the regular season with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-22 victory over Bluffton University on Saturday at Hulbert Arena.  

With the victory, Rose-Hulman clinched a first-round HCAC Tournament home match against Defiance College on Wednesday night at 7 pm.  The Fightin' Engineers are the No. 4 seed in the tournament that will be hosted by top-seeded and nationally ranked Transylvania next week.

Before today's match, the team took time to recognize the three senior athletes on the team.  Maria Bruner, Gabrielle Gilbertson, and Katie Orbeta were honored for their hard work and dedication to the Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team.  

On Saturday, Riley Woodruff led the team with 11 kills and the duo of Katie Orbeta and Elizabeth Canon added 10 each.  Orebta also had 18 assists, with Eryn Castaneda recording a team-high 23 assists.  Both Castaneda and Orbeta had a team-high three service aces.

Defensively, Katryna Dahlberg had a team-high 23 digs and Gilbertson added 13.  Bruner and Orbeta also recorded two block assists.

Rose-Hulman completes the regular season at 14-15 overall and 5-4 in HCAC play.  The Fightin' Engineers seek their second straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance after winning the 2018 HCAC Tournament title.
