Men's Basketball Hosts Defiance on Saturday at 3 PM

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hosts unbeaten Defiance College in its HCAC home opener on Saturday at 3 pm.

Rose-Hulman (2-5, 0-1 HCAC) News & Notes:

  • Rose-Hulman narrowly fell 83-77 in the HCAC opener at Manchester. Craig McGee led the Fightin' Engineers with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists. John Czarnecki (11) and Trey Wurtz (10) also reached double figures.
  • Craig McGee leads the Fightin' Engineers in scoring (16.8 ppg), rebounds (8.4 rpg) and assists (6.2 apg). He has career totals of 784 points, 323 rebounds and 311 assists at Rose-Hulman. The junior already ranks No. 8 in Rose-Hulman history in career assists, and needs just one more to move into the No. 7 position.
  • Craig McGee was named a D3News.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-American after averaging 12.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 4.9 apg last season.
  • Zach Callahan scored a career-high 23 points in an 84-83 win over Aurora, including the final points on two free throws with five seconds left.
  • Trey Wurtz has also crossed the 20-point mark in a game this season, in the opening day win over Oakland City.
  • Head coach Rusty Loyd enters contest with a career record of 82-58.  Loyd has led Rose-Hulman to one regular season confrence title and two appearances in the HCAC Tournament Championship Game.

Defiance (5-0, 0-0 HCAC) News & Notes:

  • Defiance is a perfect 5-0 in the non-conference season entering Saturday's game.
  • Five players currently average double figures in scoring, led by Sean Tyson at 14.2 ppg.
  • Tyler Andrew was named HCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week earlier this season.
  • Defiance is led by 5th year head coach Scott Cutter.
