Men's Tennis Puts Up Several Battles Before Falling to #9 Wash. U.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology extended one match to a third set tiebreak and extended four sets beyond regulation length before falling 9-0 to No. 9 ranked Washington University (Mo.) at the Wabash Valley Tennis Club on Sunday afternoon.

Rose-Hulman took one match to a third-set tiebreak, with freshman Joseph Conrad narrowly falling 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) at the No. 4 singles flight.  Ian Landwehr and Josh Giambattista battled individual sets to tiebreaks at No. 1 and No. 5 singles before narrowly falling to their nationally regarded opposition.

Washington University improved to 2-0 against NCAA Division III competition and 2-2 overall after falling to Division I Butler and top ten Division II Indianapolis on Saturday.  Rose-Hulman stands 0-2 and returns to action with matches against Oglethorpe and The Citadel in Atlanta on Feb. 23.
