Women's Basketball Takes Road Win Over Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team picked up a key road win against the Franklin Grizzlies with a final score of 50-35.  This win improves the Engineers to 16-6 overall and 13-2 in the HCAC. 

Ally Bromenschenkel was the team's leading scorer recording a double-double finishing with 18 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Abby Bromenschenkel was able to reach double figures with 13 points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds.  Other offensive contributors included Jenna Queary and Hannah Woody with 6 points each on the night.   

The game started as a tight contest between both teams.  The Engineers were able to hold a slim lead with a score of 9-8 at the end of the first quarter.  Both teams would trade the lead back and forth in the second quarter.  Rose-Hulman was able to hold a one point lead as the game headed to halftime with the score at 19-18.  Ally Bromenschenkel was the teams leading scorer with 8 points in the first half.  

The Engineers would take control of the game in the third quarter.  They outscored the Grizzlies 16-6 led by Abby Bromenschenkel's 7 points in the third to take the lead heading into the final quarter of play 35-24.  Rose-Hulman was able to hold onto the lead in the final quarter and come away with the win 50-35. 

Rose-Hulman was able to play outstanding defense against the Grizzlies to force 22 turnovers and hold the home team to just 17 points in the second half.  

The Engineers stand at 16-6 overall and 13-2 in the HCAC.  Rose-Hulman will return to action on Saturday, 2/9 as they hit the road to take on Earlham College at 2:00 PM.
