DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was able to start conference play with a win over the Defiance Yellow Jackets on Saturday morning with a final of 9-0. This marks the Engineers 40th consecutive win over HCAC opponents.
The Engineers began the match sweeping doubles competition. The team of Andre Adam and Mark Slaninka were able to get the win in No. 1 doubles 8-2, and the No.2 doubles team of Jacob Pluta and Grant Stamper were able to get the victory 8-0.
Rose-Hulman continued to play well heading into singles competition. Adam was able to get the victory in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1. Grant Stamper was able to get the win in No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, Jacob Pluta was able to record a win 6-1, 6-2. Mark Slaninka was able to defeat his competition in No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Arudrra Krishnan rounded out the singles competition with a victory in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action tomorrow as they continue HCAC play taking on Earlham College in a battle of the time two teams in the HCAC preseason poll on Sunday at 12:00 PM. The match will take place at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
