HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was able to split their double header on the road against the Hanover Panthers. This puts the Engineers at 5-15 overall and 1-5 in the HCAC. The team will compete next at home on senior day against the Mount St. Joseph Lions. The doubleheader is set for Saturday, 4/13 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
Game 1- Rose-Hulman 2, Hanover 0
Rose-Hulman found themselves in a competitive matchup against the Panthers in game one. The contest proved to be a pitching battle for a majority of the game with both teams scoreless after five innings.
Gabrielle Davidson was able to single with the bases loaded in the top of the 6th to push in a run by Angela Boulboulle to put the Engineers ahead 1-0. Jessica Thuer was able to increase the Engineers lead with a double in the top of the 7th to push in another run by Boulboulle to make the score 2-0. The Engineers would come away with the victory to record their first conference win of the season.
Pitcher Emily Struble would get the win with 4 strikeouts in 7 innings only allowing 3 hits.
Game 2- Rose-Hulman 0, Hanover 8- 6 innings
Game two of the day's doubleheader continued to be a pitching battle. Both teams were scoreless going into the 4th inning. Hanover was able to put together an impressive bottom of the 4th putting up 6 runs to jump to a demanding lead.
Hanover would add on two more runs in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 8-0. This would be the final score with the Engineers falling to the Panthers.
