TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers were able to come away with a win over Principia with a final score of 6-3. The team took the time before the match to recognize their seniors Andre Adam, Ben Strate, and Jacob Pluta. This was also the last home match for 31 year head coach Dan Hopkins.
The Engineers were able to take the lead after going 2-1 in doubles competition. Josh Giambattista and Andre Adam were able to take the win 8-7 (7-4) in No. 1 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Ian Landwehr and Austin Perry were able to pick up a victory 8-3.
In singles action, Rose-Hulman was able to win 4 out of the 6 matches to win the meet overall 6-3. Ian Landwehr picked up the win in No. 1 singles 5-7, 6-4, 6-0; Andre Adam won No. 2 singles 2-6, 6-3, 6-1; Austin Perry came away with the win in No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2; and Grant Stamper came away victorious with a win in No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
The singles win for Andre Adam earns him a spot in the Rose-Hulman record books tying the record for career singles wins with 69.
This improves the Engineers record to 10-9 overall. The team will look to continue HCAC competition tomorrow 4/24 as they travel to take on the Franklin Grizzlies at 7:30 PM.
