DECATUR, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology dropped a pair of matches at the Millikin University Invitational on Friday and will compete in two more matches on Saturday.
Against Millikin, Rose-Hulman won the first set 25-15 before the hosts rallied to win the final three sets 25-12, 25-15, 25-22. Grace Beach led the Rose-Hulman offense with eight kills. Adekite Oladipupo and Elizabeth Canon had six kills, and Maria Bruner contributed five kills. Bruner and Canon led the team with three block assists each.
Katie Orbeta paced the Engineers with 21 assists, and Canon had a team-high three service aces. Katryna Dahlberg recorded a team-high 19 digs in the contest.
Greenville won the nightcap by a 25-23, 25-16, 25-17 count. Orbeta and Woodruff had a team-high five kills. Orbeta was joined by Eryn Castaneda with a team-high 11 assists as well.
Dahlberg led Rose-Hulman with 19 digs and was joined in double figures by Castaneda (12) and Orbeta (10). The blocking attack was led by Bruner (5), Woodruff (5) and Kayla Harding (4).
Rose-Hulman stands 3-7 on the season and returns to action with Saturday matches against Illinois College (11 am CT) and Lincoln (Ill.) (1 pm CT). Following the Millikin Invitational, Rose-Hulman will travel to Webster University on Wednesday.
