Rose-Hulman Football Travels to Manchester in HCAC Opener Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Manchester University meet in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at Manchester.  The game will be Rose-Hulman's only game of the 2019 season played on a natural grass surface.

MEDIA GAME NOTES

RHIT NEWS & NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman recorded its first shutout since 2013 with a 30-0 win at Rhodes on Sept. 14.  The Fightin' Engineers held the Lynx to 8-of-26 passing and just 231 yards of total offense in the victory.
* Winston Amankwah sparked the Rhodes shutout with a 97-yard interception return for a touchdown. 
* Amankwah was named HCAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, and the 97-yard return was the second longest in school history behind only a 100-yard return by Tony Hinkle in 1995.
* Two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American Garrett Wight is approaching the 2,000-yard rushing mark in his Rose-Hulman career.  Wight needs 107 rushing yards to reach the 2,000-yard milestone.
* Junior Andrew Dion crossed the 4,000-yard passing mark in his career at Rhodes.  Dion is less than 1,000 yards away from reaching Rose-Hulman's career top five in passing yards.
* Noah Thomas is climbing up the all-time record list at Rose-Hulman with 121 career receptions for 1,490 yards and 15 touchdowns.  He needs 16 pass receptions to move into the Fightin' Engineer career top five.
* Jacob Hendrich leads the RHIT defense with 3.5 tackles-for-loss and one forced fumble so far this season...Brett Tuttle is 5-6 on extra points and is 1-1 on field goals (31 yards) early in the 2019 season. 

MANCHESTER NOTES:
* Manchester stands 1-2 on the season.  The Spartans defeated Defiance 52-21 last week, after falling to Trine and Alma in its first two games.
* Manchester swept the HCAC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week awards last week. 
* Donavan Henderson Jr. rushed for 139 yards and a school record five touchdowns in the Defiance win to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. 
* Defensive Player of the Week Devontay Moore had 11 tackles, two sacks and a blocked punt in the victory. 
* Andrew Kibler finished 7-7 on extra points and hit a 32-yard field goal to earn the Special Teams honor.
