Men's Basketball Starts HCAC Tournament on Friday in Lexington

TERRE HAUTE, Ind -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology competes in the HCAC Men's Basketball Tournament Opening Round Game on Friday.  The Fightin' Engineers face Hanover College at 8 pm, in a tournament held at top-seeded Transylvania University.

Rose-Hulman (13-12, 10-8 HCAC) News & Notes:
  • The winner of this weekend's HCAC Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Rose-Hulman and Hanover compete in first-round tournament action on Friday at 8 pm. The winner faces Franklin on Saturday at 7 pm. The HCAC Championship Game is set for Sunday at 2:30 pm.
  • Craig McGee has crossed the 1,000-point mark at Rose-Hulman (1,088 points) and ranks No. 2 in school history in career assists (432). McGee trails just Mark Givan (484) on the all-time assists list.
  • John Czarnecki has joined McGee in Rose-Hulman's 32-player men's basketball 1,000-point club. Czarnecki scored his 1,000th career point on Saturday at Hanover.
  • McGee ranks No. 4 in the HCAC in scoring (16.9 ppg), No. 2 in rebounding (8.0 rpg), and No. 1 in the conference in assists (6.6 apg).
  • Head coach Rusty Loyd enters contest with a career record of 93-65. Loyd has led Rose-Hulman to one regular season conference title and two appearances in the HCAC Tournament Championship Game.

Hanover (17-8, 11-7 HCAC) News & Notes:

  • Hanover has won three consecutive HCAC Tournament championships and has appeared in three straight NCAA Division III Tournaments.
  • Hanover has three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Isaac Hibbard (11.8 ppg) and Kevin Williams (11.8 ppg).
  • Head coach Jon Miller has a career record of 277-175, including 210-112 at Hanover.
