Men's Basketball to Face Franklin in HCAC Semifinal Tonight at 7:35 PM

TERRE HAUTE, Ind -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will face Franklin College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinal Game on Saturday at 7:35 pm at Transylvania University.  The start time is later than scheduled due to the length of today's games.

Rose-Hulman (14-12, 10-8 HCAC) News & Notes:
  • Rose-Hulman and Franklin face off in the HCAC Tournament Semifinal Game on Saturday at 7 pm at Transylvania.  The Fightin' Engineers advanced to the Semifinal Round with a 69-63 win over Hanover that featured the second triple-double in school history (and of the season) for Craig McGee.  The junior scored 15 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. 
  • Michael Lake led Rose-Hulman with a team-high 16 points on Friday against Hanover, and Eli Combs scored all 14 of his points in the second half.
  • Rose-Hulman eliminated a Hanover team that had won the last three HCAC Tournament Championships in Opening Round action on Friday night.
  • Craig McGee has crossed the 1,000-point mark at Rose-Hulman (1,103 points) and ranks No. 2 in school history in career assists (442). McGee trails just Mark Givan (484) on the all-time assists list.
  • John Czarnecki has joined McGee in Rose-Hulman's 32-player men's basketball 1,000-point club. Czarnecki has tallied 1,006 career points.
  • McGee ranks No. 4 in the HCAC in scoring (16.8 ppg), No. 2 in rebounding (8.1 rpg), and No. 1 in the conference in assists (6.6 apg).
  • Rose-Hulman seeks its 5th conference tournament championship and its first since 2014 this season.  The Fightin' Engineers have made 11 previous appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including three in a row in 2012, '13 and '14.
  • Head coach Rusty Loyd enters contest with a career record of 94-65. Loyd has led Rose-Hulman to one regular season conference title and two appearances in the HCAC Tournament Championship Game.

Franklin (17-8, 13-5 HCAC) News & Notes:

  • Franklin won a share of the HCAC regular season title this year, marking its first HCAC regular season title since 2009.
  • Franklin seeks its first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance since 2008 this season.
  • All five starters for Franklin currently average double figures in scoring, led by Matt Krause (13.8 ppg) and Borden Kennedy (13.4 ppg).
  • Head coach/athletic director Kerry Prather (528-455, 37th year) has been recently promoted to President at Franklin, through at least the summer of 2022.  Sixth-year assistant Brian Lebowitz is conducting the role of associate head coach.
