Men's Tennis Battles Before Falling to #12 Case, D-II Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology picked up three match victories against strong competition to open the 2020 season in Michigan on Saturday.

In the opener against NCAA Division III No. 12 ranked Case Western, the Fightin' Engineers won two singles matches.  Ian Landwehr picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles, and Joseph Conrad battled to a 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory in the No. 3 singles match.

Against NCAA Division II Ferris State, the No. 3 doubles team of Andrew Schiffman and Mark Slaninka picked up a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.  Two singles matches were also close against the Division II foe, with Landwehr narrowly falling 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1 singles and Josh Giambattista going to a third-set tiebreaker before falling 10-5 at the No. 6 singles flight.

Rose-Hulman stands 0-2 on the season and faces Augustana and Coe next Saturday in Rock Island, Illinois.

Rose-Hulman returns to the court later tonight, traveling to NCAA Division II Ferris State University at 6 pm.
