Softball Wraps Up Florida Spring Trip

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Friday in the Rose-Hulman softball 2020 spring trip started with a tight loss to Houghton. The Engineers would suffer another loss to Adrian in the second game of the day to wrap up their Florida spring trip.  

Game 1 - Houghton 5, Rose-Hulman 2

Rose-Hulman trailed 1-0 and tied the game on a single by Alexis Fortuna in the fifth inning.  After Houghton gained a 2-1 lead, the Engineers tied the score again on a single by Angela Boulboulle in the sixth inning.

Houghton had the big hit of the day to secure the win, a two-out, bases loaded triple by Hannah Haskell to score three runs and secure the win.

Emily Struble led the offense with two hits, including a double, and scored one run.  Alexis Sullivan also scored a run for the Engineers.

Struble had a strong game in the pitching circle, allowing no earned runs until the final inning with six strikeouts.

Game 2 - Rose-Hulman 2, Adrian 10

The Engineers would look to take on a tough opponent in Adrian for their second game of the day.  Adrian would jump ahead early to take the lead recording three runs in the first and another run in the second to make the score 4-0.  

Rose-Hulman would strike back with a home run by Sullivan that would push in a run by Boulboulle to make the score 4-2 in the top of the fourth.  

Adrian would extend their lead with five runs in the fourth and another run in the sixth to secure the victory over the Engineers. 

Rose-Hulman stands 3-7 overall and returns home to face Fontbonne in a doubleheader on Monday March 16 at 5 pm.
