Rose-Hulman Baseball Splits Saturday Twinbill at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Sewanee split a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Tennessee.

In the opener, three strong offensive performances helped key a 6-2 Rose-Hulman win.  Harris Camp finished a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate with two doubles and a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs.  Ryan Stachowski added three hits, including a home run and a double, with two RBIs.  Luke Kluemper also had three hits with a double and scored twice batting in the leadoff spot.

Josh Mesenbrink added game one offensive depth with two hits and one RBI.

The offense was enough to help Luke Buehler improve to 2-0 on the season on the mound.  Buehler allowed one run and five hits in six innings with a pair of strikeouts to move to 2-0 on the season.  Quintin Bynum surrendered just one run in 2.1 innings, and Adam Taylor picked up the final two outs for his second save.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman scored two runs in the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead, before Sewanee scored once in the seventh and eighth innings to capture a 4-3 victory.

Zach Witonsky led the offensive performance with a two-run pinch-hit single.  Stachowski added the other RBI with a single.

Mesenbrink and Andy Krajecki had two hits each for the Engineers, with Krajecki providing two doubles in the contest.  Jason Ims had a solid first college start on the mound, allowing just two runs with two strikeouts in four innings of work.

Rose-Hulman stands 4-2 on the season, while Sewanee has a record of 8-5-1.  The two teams conclude a three-game series with a single game on Sunday starting at Noon Central Time.
