DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team traveled to Ohio for a Saturday matchup against Defiance College. The Fightin' Engineers battled in two close sets before falling 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 against the Yellow Jackets.
Elizabeth Canon led Rose-Hulman with seven kills.
Sophia Koop and
Kate Wood added six kills each.
Sophia Harrison carried the team with 18 assists, and
Kylie Rathbun contributed eight assists.
Katryna Dahlberg led the team with 18 digs, and Canon added 12 digs for the Fightin' Engineers.
Allie Fults and
Sophia Koop each totaled three blocks. Fults and Canon's block efforts contributed several block assists on the afternoon for Rose-Hulman.
The Fightin' Engineers took the lead several times in the second and third sets, before Defiance rallied to pick up the win in each set. Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on the season, while Defiance improved to 3-2. The Fightin' Engineers are scheduled to travel to Anderson University on Tuesday night for their next contest.
