FULL RESULTS
GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the semifinal round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament with a 5-2 victory over Franklin College on Wednesday night at DePauw University.
The match was moved to the indoor facility at DePauw due to rain that did fall in the Terre Haute area on Wednesday afternoon.
Taylor Goldman and
Ruby Kauffman combined for three points to lead the performance. Goldman won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Kauffman won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3 singles position. The duo also won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Other winners for Rose-Hulman included
Krista Manche by a 6-0, 6-4 margin at No. 4 singles; and
Wynne Aldrich by a 6-0, 6-4 count at No. 6 singles.
The Fightin' Engineers narrowly won two of the three doubles points, before the No. 3 team of
Julia McGuire and
Gwyneth Kibbey narrowly fell 8-7 with a tiebreaker margin of 8-6.
Rose-Hulman advances to Saturday's HCAC Tournament Semifinal matchup against Transylvania at 11 am. The winner will advance to the title match at 10 am on Sunday. Weekend action will take place at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
