TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed its third perfect Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer regular season in program history with a 1-0 win over Anderson University on Wednesday night.
The Fightin' Engineers finished a perfect 9-0 in the HCAC regular season, matching the 2009 and 2016 teams with perfect conference records. Rose-Hulman will host the HCAC Tournament Semifinal round on Wednesday Nov. 3. If the Engineers advance in the semifinal round, the HCAC championship match will take place at Rose-Hulman on Saturday Nov. 6.
AJ Yilmaz provided the lone goal to give Rose-Hulman its margin of victory on Wednesday.
Takezo Kelly provided the assist, and
Evan Hofer led the defensive effort with a shutout in goal.
Rose-Hulman outshot Anderson 22-5 in the match, led by Yilmaz and
Caleb Urban with four shots each.
Rose-Hulman completed the perfect 9-0 HCAC season by outscoring the opposition 19-3. The Fightin' Engineers stand 12-4-1 overall entering next week's postseason tournament.
