TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer won the opening round match of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament against Franklin College, 3-1. Rose-Hulman improved to 12-2-2 on the season and 8-1-1 in HCAC play, while Franklin ended their season 5-12 and 4-6 in league play.
With the victory, the Fightin' Engineers head to Hanover College on Wednesday, November 3 for the semifinal round of the HCAC tournament. Kickoff on Wednesday is set for 11am.
Kyra Hicks opened the game with a goal in the sixth minute, courtesy of
Sarah Shoemaker and
Christina Rogers.
Elle Vuotto recorded the second goal of the game in the 25th minute, and
Caroline House scored her first goal of the season in the 81st minute. Hicks now has six goals on the season and Vuotto has four.
RHIT controlled the shot chart by a tally of 16-6, led by Hicks with six shots and Vuotto with three.
Natalie Dillon recorded the tournament win as goalkeeper with one save.
