TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball lost their first game of the season on Sunday to DePauw University 72-66. Rose-Hulman fell to 3-1 on the season, while DePauw improved to 3-2.
DePauw head coach Bill Fenlon has announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season after 30 years in Greencastle. Fenlon previously served as head coach at Rose-Hulman from 1989-91, leading the 1989 team to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Fightin' Engineer head coach
Rusty Loyd presented Fenlon with a framed varsity "R" letter prior to his final visit to Hulbert Arena to commemorate his time at Rose-Hulman.
DePauw used a 8-0 run in the final four minutes of the game to secure the victory. The Tigers also outscored the Engineers 37-26 and made 10-of-11 from the foul line in the second half to complete their rally.
Rose-Hulman never fell behind in the first half, and eventually powered to a 12-point lead before DePauw battled back to close the deficit to five points at the break.
Terry Hicks led the offensive attack for the Fightin' Engineers. He finished with 16 points and eight rebounds on 7-for-12 shooting from the field.
Dillon Duff tied Hicks in scoring with 16 points and added five rebounds. Duff scored 10-straight points in the second half for Rose-Hulman to turn a 59-54 deficit into an 64-59 lead for the Fightin' Engineers with 4:07 remaining.
Trey Wurtz was the third Engineer to end in double figures with 11 in 17 minutes.

Rose-Hulman travels to Wabash College on Wednesday December 1 to battle the Little Giants. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
