TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Transylvania University improved to 7-0 on the season and also remained unbeaten in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-23 volleyball victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday at Hulbert Arena.
Suzanne Klosterman led the Pioneers with nine kills and Grace Ward added 31 assists to the Transylvania win.
Elizabeth Canon reached double figures with 11 kills to pace the Rose-Hulman offense.Â
Kylie Rathbun added six kills and a team-high 12 assists, with
Sophia Harrison contributing eight assists to the effort.
Canon also led the Fightin' Engineers with three service aces. Rose-Hulman made the third and final set a tight battle due in part to a segment of points served by Canon. The Fightin' Engineers trailed 19-13 before six straight points on Canon's serve, including three service aces tied the match. Transylvania battled to the two-point win in the final set, closing the match on a kill by Sylvie Miller.
Katryna Dahlberg led the back row defensive effort with 22 digs, and Harrison pitched in with 11. Canon led the team with three service aces, and
Allie Fults had a team-high three total blocks.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-3 on the season and hosts Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday at 7 pm at Hulbert Arena.
