TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 5-4 win over Anderson University on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
The Fightin' Engineers took the early lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The team of
Fanny-Jane Banda and
Taylor Goldman won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles.Â
Breanna Rogers and
Ella Dorfmueller added an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Banda won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Goldman won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to give the Engineers a 4-2 match lead. The Ravens rallied to tie the match at 4-4, setting the stage for one set to decide the match outcome at No. 6 singles.
Hannah Snider picked up the win at No. 6 singles to give the Fightin' Engineers the match victory. Snider won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 as the Engineers stayed unbeaten in league matches.
Anderson dropped to 1-1 in HCAC play. Rose-Hulman returns to action with two matches at Hanover, the first a conference tilt and the second is non-conference, on April 10.Â
