HANOVER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis winning streak of 51 consecutive wins against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition, dating back to May 2014, came to an end with a narrow 5-4 loss at Hanover College on Sunday afternoon.
Rose-Hulman picked up three singles wins and one doubles victory in the tightly contested matchup.Â
Mark Slaninka teamed with
Grant Stamper to win at No. 3 doubles for the first win, and Slaninka also won at No. 6 singles for a second match point.
Other winners included
Joseph Conrad at No. 3 singles and
Hart Howard at No. 4 singles.
Hanover improved to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 5-3 and 4-1 in league play.Â
The Fightin' Engineers have qualified for the HCAC Tournament that takes place May 8-9 at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Rose-Hulman will seek its 6th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament in next month's conference tournament.
