NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship match with a 5-0 win over Transylvania University on Saturday at Top Seed Tennis Club.
With the win, Rose-Hulman will face Hanover College in the HCAC championship match on Sunday at 12:30 pm. The winner of Sunday's match will represent the HCAC in the NCAA Division III Tournament next weekend.
Rose-Hulman won all three doubles matches to take control of the contest.
Joseph Conrad and
Hart Howard won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Joshua Giambattista and
Ian Landwehr won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Grant Stamper and
Rhian Seneviratne capped the sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Singles winners included Conrad at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2) and Howard at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0).
Rose-Hulman stands 6-3 on the season and will square off with 10-0 Hanover in the title match.
