TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team won its 50th consecutive match against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition, knocking off Franklin College 8-1 on Senior Night at Brickway Tennis Club.
Rose-Hulman has reached the NCAA Division III Tournament and won both the HCAC regular season and conference tournament championships every year from 2015-19 in its 50-match win streak. The Fightin' Engineers have not lost against HCAC opposition since May 2014.
Rose-Hulman also celebrated Senior Night for
Grant Stamper on the evening. Stamper has won 21 career singles matches and 15 career doubles matches at Rose-Hulman, including a pair of wins on Thursday night.
Winners for the Fightin' Engineers included
Joshua Giambattista at No. 1 singles; Stamper at No. 2 singles;
Joseph Conrad at No. 3 singles; and
Rhian Seneviratne at No. 4 singles.
In doubles action, Rose-Hulman winners included Conrad and Stamper at No. 1 doubles along with Seneviratne and Giambattista at No. 2 doubles.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in HCAC play with the victory. The originally scheduled matches at Hanover on Saturday have been postponed until later in April. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on April 17 at Transylvania.
