TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team split the Saturday home doubleheader against Manchester University. Rose-Hulman moved to 19-11 on the season while Manchester moved to 16-17.
Rose-Hulman struck first in the 13-3 game one victory, initiated by a
Logan Cody home run to right field in the second inning. The homer was his fourth of this season. By the end of the third inning, the Fightin' Engineers led 7-0. The game ended on an Manchester error off the bat of
Harris Camp, allowing the game ending run on the 10-run rule to be scored by
Colter Couillard-Rodak.Â
Four career-highs were set in game one of the doubleheader. Several Fightin' Engineers also recorded multi-hit games.
Luke Kluemper finished 3-for-4 with a career-high four RBIs.
Adam Taylor,
Brett Tuttle,
Josh Mesenbrink, and
Alex Gavrilovich each tallied two hits, and Gavrilovich batted in a career-high three runs. Mesenbrink scored four times, the most in a game of his career.
Jacob Petrisko recorded a career-high seven strikeouts in seven innings en route to his fifth pitching win of the season.Â
Rose-Hulman took an early 1-0 lead in game two. The game was tied 2-2 entering the fifth inning, but Manchester would take the lead with an eight-run inning and hang on for the win.Â
Mesenbrink doubled twice in game two, finishing 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Taylor added two hits.Â
Ian Kline struck out five in 4.1 innings of work.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action tomorrow at Defiance College for more conference play. First pitches are scheduled for 12pm and 3pm.
