NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team advanced to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship match with a 5-3 win over Anderson University on Saturday at Top Seed Tennis Club.
With the win, Rose-Hulman will face Transylvania University in the HCAC championship match on Sunday at 10 am. The winner of Sunday's match will represent the HCAC in the NCAA Division III Tournament next weekend.
Rose-Hulman relied on wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take an early 2-1 lead.Â
Breanna Rogers and
Taylor Goldman won at No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 score.Â
Fanny-Jane Banda and
Ruby Kauffman won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, winners included Banda at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-1); Rogers at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0); and
Hannah Snider at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-2).
Rose-Hulman stands 5-2 on the season and will square off with 8-1 Transylvania in the title match.
