TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened the 2021-22 women's tennis season with an 8-1 loss to unbeaten Millikin University on Friday night at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.
Ella Dorfmueller picked up the Fightin' Engineer victory at No. 3 singles, winning by default after splitting the first two sets. Â
The doubles team of
Taylor Goldman and
Breanna Rogers gave Millikin a battle at the No. 1 flight before narrowly falling 8-5 to lead the doubles effort.
Millikin improved to 3-0 on the season, while Rose-Hulman stands 0-1. The Fightin' Engineers open the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference at home on Saturday at noon against Hanover.
