TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team defeated previously unbeaten DePauw University on Wednesday by a score of 3-1. Rose-Hulman improved to 2-2-1 while DePauw fell to 5-1.
Caleb Urban assisted all three Rose-Hulman goals in the evening. At the halftime break, the Fightin' Engineers held a 2-0 lead on a goal by
Takezo Kelly and a header by
Travis Bednarek. The Tigers scored the first goal in the second half, but Kelly scored Rose-Hulman's third goal in the 87th minute to secure the win.Â
Kelly now has four goals on the season and 21 in his career. Bednarek's header was his first of the season and the 12th of his career. Urban's three assists move his assist total to five.
Rose-Hulman outshot DePauw 14-7 in the contest, led by five shots from
Takezo Kelly. Bednarek added three shots.Â
Evan Hofer paced the Fightin' Engineer defensive effort with three saves.
The Fightin' Engineers host Albion College on Sunday, September 19 at the Rose-Hulman Soccer Field with a 1pm kickoff.
