TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team scored four times in the second half to break open a close match and pick up a 5-0 victory over Millikin University on Saturday at the Engineer Soccer Field.
Lane Lawrence led the Rose-Hulman offense with two second half goals and also one assist.Â
Sarah Shoemaker added one goal and two assists.
Other goal scorers included
Megan Foder and
Elle Vuotto. Both players recorded one goal and one assist on the day.Â
Kyra Hicks added a pair of assists for the Rose-Hulman offense.
Shoemaker scored in the third minute on a pass from Lawrence to give Rose-Hulman a 1-0 lead at the half.
The Fightin' Engineers scored four goals in the six minutes to take control of the game in the second half. Lawrence scored on a pass from Shoemaker in the 59th minute. Foder scored on a double assist from Hicks and Shoemaker in the 61st minute. Â
Lawrence added her second goal in the 63rd minute on a double assist from Foder and Vuotto. Finally, Vuotto wrapped up the scoring in the 65th minute on a pass from Hicks.
Natalie Dillon recorded the shutout defensively with two saves to keep the Big Blue off the scoreboard.
Rose-Hulman improved to 4-0-1 on the season, while Millikin dropped to 3-3. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Wednesday at home against DePauw University.
