Volleyball Splits 5-Set Matches on Day Two at Illinois College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology stands 2-2 on the volleyball season after splitting a pair of 5-set matches on Saturday at the Illinois College Tournament.

In the opener, Rose-Hulman rallied to defeat Knox 18-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-13.  In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman and Olivet battled for five sets before the Comets picked up the 26-24, 23-25, 25-20, 15-25, 15-11 win.

Against Olivet, Allie Fults and Kate Wood led the offensive effort with 12 kills each.  Elizabeth Canon and Sophia Koop had 11 kills each.

Sophia Harrison paced the squad with 29 assists, and Jillian Gregg recorded 20.  Claudia Rowan joined Harrison with a team-high three service aces.

Kylie Rathbun led four players in double figure digs with 24.  Koop tallied 20, Gregg recorded 13 and Harrison had 11 for the Engineers.

In the Knox match, Canon and Coop had a team-high 10 kills.  Gregg led the team with 25 assists. Koop also set a team-high with seven service aces.

Koop and Rathbun recorded 13 digs, and Harrison contributed 12 for the Engineers.  Fults had a team-high two solo blocks.

Following the tournament, Canon and Fults were named to the 2021 Illinois College Invitational All Tournament Team.

Rose-Hulman stands 2-2 on the season and returns to action next weekend at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
